Meet Juanita

As a lifelong resident of northern Alabama, Juanita Healy has served in professional and volunteer positions crucial to the community in House District 4.  Juanita has owned and managed two small businesses.  She has also worked as an office manager, human resources director, and administrative assistant for a law firm, a marketing association, and a real estate firm.  Currently, Juanita is an event coordinator for the Burningtree Country Club.

Juanita also has served as a volunteer for civic, professional, and charitable organizations in northern Alabama.  As a co-chair of One Decatur, she has developed and implemented a comprehensive plan for the City of Decatur.  She also serves on committees for Chefs Against Hunger and Bank Street Farm to Table, fighting child hunger.  She is a co-chair of the Brooke Hill Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which provides approximately $50,000 per year to the UAB Gynecology Oncology Foundation and has funded research campaigns costing $60,000.

When Fairview High School was destroyed by a fire, Juanita chaired the Purple and Gold Foundation, which added $2 million dollars to the funds provided by the state and county governments.  The funds helped build a state-of-the-art performance center that hosts many Cullman County School functions.

Juanita has five grown children and step-children and is a proud grandmother.  She a widow and the surviving parent of a daughter lost to cancer.  Juanita is a long-term member of the Decatur Presbyterian Church congregation.  She attended The University of Montevallo, the National School of Real Estate in Huntsville, and Fairview High School in Cullman County.

Juanita has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, the President of the Burningtree Homeowners Association, and a charter/founding member of the North Alabama International Trade Association.  She is listed in Who’s Who of American Female Executives and Who’s Who of Southern Marketing Executives, and was 2014 Rookie of the Year for the Morgan County Association of Realtors.
